Shivpuri to Anchor MP's Defence Manufacturing Push as Rs 2,500-Crore Adani Project Takes Off

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Union Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a Rs 2,500-crore Adani Defence and Aerospace manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, marking the launch of Madhya Pradesh's first project under the proposed Defence Corridor. The project is expected to manufacture missiles and propellants while generating around 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav described the project as the beginning of a new chapter in Madhya Pradesh's industrial journey. He said the investment had opened a new avenue for defence manufacturing in the state and would strengthen employment as well as future industrial growth.

The Chief Minister said missiles manufactured at the proposed facility would contribute to India's defence capability and support the country's growing focus on indigenous defence production. He said the project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives while positioning Madhya Pradesh as an emerging defence manufacturing destination.

Besides the defence project, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development works worth Rs 211 crore. The Chief Minister also distributed benefits to beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes.

Highlighting the project's economic impact, Yadav said it would create employment opportunities for nearly 5,000 people. He added the investment would also encourage the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises by integrating them into the defence manufacturing supply chain.

The Chief Minister said the Gwalior-Chambal region was witnessing rapid industrial expansion. Referring to recent investments, including a cement plant in neighbouring Guna and the growing tourism potential of Madhav National Park, he said the region was emerging as a new growth centre for the state.

During the programme, Dr Mohan Yadav announced a series of development projects for Shivpuri. These include a 14-km four-lane road to connect the town with the National Highway at a cost of Rs 120 crore, a cardiology unit at the medical college, a 200 bed mother and child hospital, a new Subhashpura tehsil, a primary health centre at Pichhore, a new Agricultural Produce Market (Mandi) at Khaniyadhana and additional educational institutions, including a Sandipani School and a new college at Khod.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said Shivpuri was witnessing the beginning of a new chapter in nation-building. He said the defence manufacturing facility would strengthen the vision of a self-reliant India and help establish the district as an important industrial destination.

Representing the Adani Group, Jeet Adani said the Shivpuri facility would manufacture mission-ready missile systems and generate employment for around 5,000 people. He said the group's investment reflected its confidence in Madhya Pradesh's industrial potential and in the state's policy environment.

The proposed facility is expected to become a cornerstone of Madhya Pradesh's Defence Corridor, expanding indigenous defence manufacturing while opening new opportunities for skilled employment, local industries and long-term industrial investment in the region.
