Once affected by Naxal activities, Bondari village in Balaghat is witnessing a new phase of security, development and livelihood generation. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited the village and interacted directly with residents to understand their needs and development priorities on Saturday there.

During the visit, the Chief Minister announced development works worth Rs 225 crore for the overall growth of Balaghat district. The projects will focus on basic infrastructure, public services, employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The visit carried wider significance for the district. Balaghat has remained among the Naxal-affected regions of Madhya Pradesh for years. The government is now seeking to turn improved security conditions into visible development at the village level.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said areas once affected by Naxalism would receive development along with security. Employment and livelihood generation would remain an important part of this strategy.

He said special efforts would be made to increase the income of rural families through local livelihood opportunities. Young people would also be connected with jobs and self-employment schemes.

During his interaction with villagers, the Chief Minister discussed animal husbandry, housing, education, healthcare and employment. He also stressed the need for public awareness about the regular use of nutritious food.

The role of the Forest Department in supporting local communities was also discussed. A large number of families in Balaghat depend on forests and their produce for their livelihood.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav directed officials to strengthen essential facilities in the region. He said every eligible family must receive the benefits of government welfare schemes. The Rs 225 crore development package will cover roads, electricity, drinking water, housing, education and healthcare. Agriculture and allied activities will also receive support.

The government plans to promote animal husbandry, horticulture, fisheries and forest-based occupations. These activities will be developed according to the resources and potential available in different villages.

The Chief Minister asked officials to give priority to development works in villages that had earlier remained affected by Naxal activities. The aim is to ensure that the return of peace is followed by better services, stronger infrastructure and dependable sources of income.

The initiative also reflects a shift in the government’s approach towards such areas. Security operations may help restore normalcy, but lasting peace depends on roads, schools, healthcare, employment and the confidence of local people.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said Balaghat was now moving from Naxalism towards development. The government’s objective was to establish lasting peace and connect every village and family with the mainstream of social and economic progress.

District in-charge minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Ashok Varnwal, MP Bharti Pardhi, minister Sampatiya Uikey, MLAs Sanjay Uikey and Madhu Bhagat, local representatives and a large number of villagers were present during the interaction.
