Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav led historic Vedic rituals at Bhojshala, Dhar, marking a new cultural era with major projects announced.
After centuries of dispute, emotion and legal struggle, Dhar witnessed a historic moment on Monday. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav offered prayers at the Bhojshala complex and announced two major cultural projects for the city-Maa Saraswati Lok and Raja Bhoj Research Institute. Supporters called the occasion unprecedented. They claimed that for the first time in nearly 750 years, rituals dedicated to Maa Vagdevi were performed at Bhojshala with full traditional Vedic procedures.
The atmosphere in Dhar remained emotionally charged throughout the day. Devotees gathered in large numbers as Dr. Yadav entered the Bhojshala premises, offered prayers to Maa Vagdevi and later performed aarti amid Vedic chants. The Chief Minister called it a proud moment not only for Dhar but for the entire cultural identity of Malwa. Speaking at the event, Dr. Yadav linked Dhar’s legacy with Raja Bhoj, Samrat Vikramaditya and Harshvardhan, describing them as great rulers who strengthened Sanatan culture and knowledge traditions before the world. He recalled Raja Bhoj’s contribution towards literature, water conservation and temple architecture. Referring to the famous Bhojtal in Bhopal, he said Raja Bhoj’s engineering wisdom still surprises modern scholars. The Chief Minister also strongly defended the Madhya Pradesh High Court verdict on Bhojshala. He said Dhar was now entering a “new era” after the court decision. According to him, the judgment recognised the centuries-old faith and struggle associated with the site. He congratulated the people of Dhar and said the city would now emerge as a major centre of tourism, literature and culture. Dr. Yadav also used the occasion to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said only a strong leadership could successfully implement sensitive judicial decisions in a democracy as large as India. Referring to the Ram Temple verdict, he said the Prime Minister ensured peaceful implementation while carrying everyone together.

The Chief Minister further said Dhar would witness rapid development in the coming years. He highlighted industrial expansion linked to the PM MITRA Park project, where cotton produced by tribal communities would be converted into garments for export markets. He described Dhar as one of Madhya Pradesh’s strongest industrial districts. Alongside the cultural announcements, Dr. Yadav laid foundation stones for 12 development projects worth around Rs 88 crore. A large focus remained on water conservation works under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. He said Madhya Pradesh was aggressively working on ponds, irrigation structures, stepwell restoration and groundwater recharge. According to the government, over 55,000 farm ponds and more than 100 Amrit Sarovars have already been created across the state. The emotional peak of the programme came when families of those who lost their lives during the Bhojshala movement were honoured publicly. The Chief Minister announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of late Pant Singh, late Antar Singh and late Laxman Singh. A moment of silence was also observed in their memory.

For many in Dhar, the event was not merely political. It was presented as a symbolic reclaiming of history, identity and cultural pride after a long and emotionally sensitive journey.
