Madhya Pradesh is set to take a major step towards modernising its public transport system. The state will host the Passenger Transport Vision Summit-2026 in Indore on September 11 and 12 to prepare a long-term roadmap for safe, smart and sustainable mobility.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the two-day summit at the Brilliant Convention Centre. He will unveil the state's Passenger Mobility Vision 2030 and outline plans to strengthen public transport through technology and private sector participation.

The summit will bring together senior government officials, transport experts, policymakers and industry leaders. Technology companies, vehicle manufacturers and financial institutions will also take part. The event aims to promote new ideas and partnerships in passenger transport.

One of the main themes will be expanding public bus services under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Experts will discuss ways to improve service quality while making bus operations financially sustainable. The discussions are also expected to encourage greater private investment in the sector.

The agenda includes several emerging technologies. These include Intelligent Transport Management Systems (ITMS), electric mobility, AI-based fleet management, digital ticketing and integrated mobility solutions. Experts will also discuss data-driven planning for city and inter-city bus services.

Passenger safety and convenience will remain a key focus. Sessions will examine green mobility, automated fare collection and measures to make public transport more reliable. Discussions will also explore innovative revenue models and better use of Central government schemes to generate jobs and encourage entrepreneurship.

The opening day will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, industry exhibitions and networking sessions. The focus will remain on policy reforms, investment opportunities and the future of public transport. A summit souvenir and knowledge publication will also be released.

On the second day, delegates will visit Ujjain as part of a cultural and heritage tour. The programme includes a visit to the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. The tour is aimed at showcasing Madhya Pradesh's cultural heritage and tourism potential.

The state government expects the summit to help prepare the Mobility Vision 2030 roadmap. It also hopes to accelerate PPP projects, promote digital governance and attract investment in green transport. The deliberations are expected to strengthen coordination between government, industry and technology partners while improving public transport services across Madhya Pradesh.
