Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, during his Delhi visit earlier this month, made a significant announcement on the Uniform Civil Code. He said Madhya Pradesh will implement UCC before the July 2026 Monsoon Session. "One symbol, one constitution, one law for the entire nation — there is nothing wrong with this feeling," he said. Three states have already done it. MP will soon join that list.

The government has already formed a high-level committee for this. Retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Desai is leading it. The committee is travelling district by district and hearing people from every section of society before the final framework is ready.

On the question of tribal communities, the CM made the state's position clear. They will not come under the UCC and will remain free to live by their own customs and traditions. Gujarat has already followed this approach and MP will do the same. "We will work with an open mind and an open heart," he said. He also noted that merit always finds its due regardless of caste, religion or community. He cited President Draupadi Murmu as an example, who comes from a tribal background and today holds the highest constitutional office in the country.

Turning to the state's economy, Dr. Yadav laid out a picture of steady progress. The state government rolled out 18 industry-focused policies. Regional Industry Conclaves were held in cities like Rewa, Gwalior, Narmadapuram and Katni to draw investors from across the country. The results have been encouraging. Investment worth Rs 10 lakh crore has come in. The Global Investors Summit 2025 brought MoUs worth Rs 30 lakh crore and nearly 30 percent of that is already visible on the ground. Factories are running and over 2 lakh jobs have been created so far. The government is also offering Rs 5,000 per worker per month for up to 10 years to industries that generate employment.

On education, the progress is equally notable. MP had only 5 medical colleges till 2002. Today that number stands at 30. Seven of them opened in just the last two years. Three new state universities have come up named after Tantya Mama, Tatya Tope and Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi. PM Excellence Colleges are now running in all 55 districts. Universities have also started offering agriculture as a faculty and new Sandipani schools are being opened at a steady pace across the state.

He also reflected on faith, culture and heritage. "Disrespecting any religion is not our culture. But being proud of your own faith is not wrong either," he said. He pointed to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as an example of how sensitive matters can be resolved with patience and goodwill. He then spoke about Dhar, the land of Raja Bhoj, describing it as a place rich in ancient architecture and history. He said the idol of Goddess Saraswati will be restored at the Bhojshala complex. Religious tourism, he added, has always been a steady driver of local employment and the development of Bhojshala will open new possibilities for tourism in Dhar.

He also spoke about the welfare of women. The Ladli Behna scheme has completed 36 instalments so far and total financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries has crossed Rs 55,000 crore since the scheme was launched. The government, he said, remains committed to the welfare of women across the state.
