Galav University Foundation Ceremony Highlights Focus on Character Building, Research and Employment-Oriented Education
Gwalior, May 2026. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the proposed Rishi Galav University in Gwalior on Monday reflected a broader vision of education rooted in Indian values, character building, and nation-building. Speakers at the programme emphasised that education should go beyond employment generation and focus equally on nurturing sensitivity, intellect, moral values, and social responsibility among students.
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya Suresh Soni while addressing the gathering, said education should create individuals who are thoughtful, compassionate, and socially conscious. He observed that the Indian education tradition has historically aimed at the holistic development of human beings rather than merely producing degree holders. Referring to India’s civilisational heritage, Soni said the country’s educational philosophy has always connected knowledge with ethics, discipline, and service to society. He noted that institutions inspired by Indian thought systems can play an important role in rebuilding value-based education in contemporary times. He added that all branches of science are ultimately meant to serve humanity and society, but if they fail to nurture human sensitivity, their purpose remains incomplete. Soni observed that technological advancement is progressing at an unprecedented pace, with the internet and now Artificial Intelligence evolving so rapidly that machines may eventually overpower or even replace humans.
He underlined that while development is taking place rapidly in every sphere, it is largely confined to the material and external environment. “The dream envisioned in 1941 is now taking shape, but the development of human beings has taken a backseat,” he remarked, adding that human behaviour and values today stand in sharp contrast to those of a century ago.
Soni stressed that alongside infrastructural and technological growth, educational institutions must place human development and sensitivity at the centre of their vision. He said character-building should remain the primary objective of education and emphasized the need to bridge anomalies in the existing education system. Expressing optimism about the proposed university, he said he hoped it would emerge as a model rooted in sensitivity, values, and holistic human development.
RSS Madhya Bharat Prant Sanghchalak Ashok Pandey, who presided over the programme said the university would place equal emphasis on character formation. Education should not remain limited only to securing jobs. The objective of education should be to develop sensitivity and moral values in students.
Madhya Bharat Shiksha Samiti president Rajendra Bandil said the proposed Rishi Galav University is being developed over nearly 55 acres of land near village Bela on the outskirts of Gwalior. He informed that the campus has been planned with an estimated investment of around Rs 110 crore, while the initial phase of construction will involve expenditure of nearly Rs 30 crore. Rituals associated with the bhoomi pujan ceremony were performed in the presence of saints and Vedic scholars.
