Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Smart Industrial Park at Satgarhi in Bhopal, describing it as a major step towards transforming the capital into a new industrial and employment hub. He said the project would create opportunities for farmers, youth, women and entrepreneurs while strengthening Madhya Pradesh's growing industrial ecosystem.
The foundation stone was laid on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, India's first Industry Minister. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said the industrial park would be developed in his name as a tribute to his contribution to the country's industrial vision.

The Chief Minister said the state government was working to connect agriculture with industry and industry with markets. He said industrial development would benefit farmers by creating value chains for agricultural produce while opening large-scale employment opportunities for young people. He added that sectors such as garments would also create new markets for cotton growers.
Referring to the state's recent industrial initiatives, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had entered the defence manufacturing sector with the foundation stone of a missile and propellant manufacturing facility at Shivpuri a day earlier. He also cited investments in the solar sector at Morena and the cement industry in Guna as signs of balanced industrial growth across different regions of the state.
The Chief Minister said the state was steadily translating investment commitments into projects on the ground. He said investment proposals worth more than Rs 30 lakh crore received during the Global Investors Summit 2025 had begun taking shape, with nearly Rs 10 lakh crore already under implementation. He added that investment proposals worth Rs 86,000 crore had been signed during the current year, which has been observed as Farmer Welfare Year.
Highlighting the employment potential of the Satgarhi project, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said the industrial park alone is expected to generate more than 15,000 jobs. He said the state government was encouraging employment-oriented industries while extending welfare measures to women, including additional financial support for beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana who take up jobs in such industries.
The Chief Minister also announced that a modern convention centre with a seating capacity of around 10,000 people would be developed on nearly 25 acres within the Satgarhi campus. He said the project would strengthen Bhopal's position as a destination for business, industry and large conventions.
Speaking about the park's location, officials said the township would be developed over nearly 70 hectares. It is situated close to major road networks and has easy connectivity to Raja Bhoj Airport, Rani Kamalapati Railway Station and the proposed western bypass, making it strategically suitable for industrial investment.
Principal Secretary, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion and MSME, Raghvendra Kumar Singh said the project was not merely the beginning of another industrial estate but the foundation of Bhopal's next phase of industrial growth. He said the integrated township would support both traditional manufacturing and emerging industries while improving the capital's investment profile.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was moving ahead with transparent governance, improved infrastructure and industry-friendly policies. He expressed confidence that the Satgarhi Smart Industrial Park would emerge as a major centre of economic activity and employment in the years ahead.
