Bhopal May 10, 2026. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday said a “new era” of development was beginning in Guna as he laid the foundation stone for a Rs1,059 crore Ambuja Cement plant of the Adani Group in the district. The project is expected to produce 40 lakh tonnes of cement annually and generate employment for nearly 1,500 people. Along with the industrial project, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and performed bhoomi-pujan for 144 development works worth around Rs130 crore. The development projects include infrastructure expansion and public facilities across the district. Dr. Yadav also announced several new projects for the Guna-Shivpuri region. These include restoration work on the Guniya river, construction of a new bridge at Lakshman Kotra and beautification of the Bhujariya pond in Guna.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Guna was known for its talented and capable people. He said industries were important for development and skilled people were needed to run industries successfully. According to him, Guna was now entering a new phase of growth and opportunity. The Chief Minister said the atmosphere at the event felt like a festival celebration. He praised Guna’s coriander, roses and people, calling them unique. He also said the Gwalior-Chambal region had changed significantly over the years. Earlier, the region was often associated with violence, but now development was becoming its new identity. Dr. Yadav said the state government was working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development. He said farmers were being made partners in growth. The government, he added, was giving farmers four times the market price for land acquired for development projects. He urged farmers not to sell their land carelessly, saying land remained their strongest asset. He also said Madhya Pradesh was moving ahead rapidly in sectors like tourism, dairy and industry. Referring to the growing wildlife tourism around Kuno National Park, he said the state was witnessing a new tourism chapter with cheetahs attracting visitors.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the day as historic for Guna. He said the cement plant was the result of discussions and planning that had continued for nearly four years. According to him, the new industrial projects would ensure that local youth no longer needed to migrate elsewhere in search of jobs. Scindia said the “Mohan-Jyoti” combination was working to turn the dreams of young people into reality. He also announced that future projects in the region would include employment opportunities for women, including sewing units and other industrial activities. He said the Adani Group was also planning to establish a defence-related unit with an investment of around Rs2,500 crore.
Speaking at the programme, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises Pranav Adani, said the proposed cement plant was not just an industrial project but a step towards accelerating Madhya Pradesh’s economic growth. He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and said the state government’s focus on roads, infrastructure and industries was helping Madhya Pradesh move ahead rapidly.
Officials said the project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the area. Around 500 people are likely to get direct jobs, while nearly 1,000 others may benefit indirectly through transport, trade and other related sectors. The state government is also expected to receive nearly Rs160 crore annually in GST revenue from the unit. Officials said the project would not only encourage industrial investment but also boost transport, business and service-related activities in the region. It is being viewed as an important step towards accelerating economic growth in Guna district.
