In Shivpuri, 28 Divyang beneficiaries were gifted specially designed e-scooters, marking a step towards independence and improved mobility.
Bhopal/ Shivpuri May 15, 2026. Shivpuri witnessed an emotional and inspiring moment on Thursday when 28 Divyang beneficiaries received specially designed e-motorized scooters at Mangalam campus. For many of them, it was not just the distribution of a vehicle, but the beginning of a more independent life. The battery-operated scooters, developed using Japanese technology and designed by Indian Institute of Technology Madras, were distributed during a programme attended by spiritual leader Raghuveer Singh Gaur and social worker Renu Sankhla. As the beneficiaries arrived with their families, emotions were visible across the venue. Some tested their scooters with cautious smiles, while others moved around confidently for the first time without depending on anyone’s support.

The initiative was organised jointly by Mangalam and Saksham, an organisation inspired by RSS service activities and working across the country for Divyang welfare.Speaking at the programme, Saksham president Ravindra Kopargaonkar said the organisation has distributed 573 such e-vehicles across India this year. Out of these, 263 beneficiaries are from Madhya Pradesh. He said Shivpuri district received 31 vehicles in two phases following a request made by Madhya Pradesh Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities(Divyang)Dr Ajay Khemariya.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Khemariya said efforts would now be made to provide similar scooters to nearly 50 more Divyang persons in Shivpuri in the next phase. He said around ₹50 lakh has already been spent this year to provide 31 such vehicles in the district. The specially designed scooters can be used both indoors and outdoors. Once fully charged, the vehicle can run nearly 30 kilometres. Organisers said the design focuses on comfort, easy handling and safe movement for differently-abled users.
Spiritual saint Raghuveer Singh Gaur described the initiative as “service equal to worship” and thanked everyone associated with the effort. Mangalam president Dr Govind Singh also highlighted the social service projects being carried out for Divyang welfare.Several officials, volunteers and family members attended the event. But the biggest moment came quietly — when beneficiaries drove away on their new scooters, carrying not just mobility, but dignity and confidence back home with them.
