RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat advocates for making people 'Gau Bhakt' to stop cow slaughter, speaking at an event in Vrindavan on the occasion of Malook Das's birth anniversary.
Vrindavan/Mathura, April 8, 2026. The RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat stressed the need for making people ‘Gau Bhakt’ (cow devotee) to curb cow slaughter. Speaking at an event on Tuesday organized at Malook Peeth to commemorate the 452nd birth anniversary of Malook Das, a 16th century seer known for his teaching on non-duality and devotion, Dr. Bhagwat, reminded the gathering that India has always been guided by its rich saint tradition. “This is a spiritual country. Saints have shown direction to society in every era. If we follow their path, India will surely become a ‘Vishwa Guru’,” he added.
Drawing a parallel with the Ram Temple movement, Dr Bhagwat said change happens when society speaks in one voice. “Just like people came together for the Ram Temple, a similar awakening is needed on cow protection,” he noted. According to him, once public sentiment becomes strong, the government will also be compelled to act. “Awareness has to reach villages. That’s where the real change will begin,” he said, adding that the Sangh will continue working at the grassroots level. During his visit, Bhagwat also took blessings from saints and said the time has come for India to take its rightful place globally. “We have to work together to build a happy and better world,” he said.
RSS chief concluded on a broader note, saying India’s 1.42 billion people carry values of discipline and restraint, but efforts must be made to ensure everyone lives a better and more comfortable life.
