Madhya Pradesh announces a new spiritual and cultural complex, 'Shri Parshuram–Shri Krishna Lok', aiming to transform Janapav into a global pilgrimage spot.
Bhopal April 19, 2026. In a major push to promote spiritual tourism and cultural heritage, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday announced the development of a grand religious and cultural complex, ‘Shri Parshuram–Shri Krishna Lok’, at the revered JanapavKuti in Indore district. The project, estimated to cost over Rs 17 crore, aims to transform the site into a globally recognised pilgrimage destination.
Addressing a large gathering at the sacred birthplace of Parashurama during his birth anniversary celebrations, Dr Yadav said the upcoming complex would be developed as a “bhavya-divya” (grand and divine) centre where devotees can experience the teachings and life journeys of both Parashurama and Krishna. “Visitors will not only connect with the divine leelas of Lord Krishna but also draw inspiration from the life of Lord Parashuram. This sacred place will offer spiritual merit to all who come here,” he added.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of Parashurama across different eras, Dr Yadav described him as a “chiranjivi” (immortal figure) who upheld righteousness and fought injustice in every age. He noted that Parashurama’s influence extended to both Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, underlining his role as a bridge across mythological timelines. Referring to ancient lore, the Chief Minister said Parashurama’s blessings and teachings, including the famed Sudarshan Chakra, played a vital role in shaping Krishna’s life and victories. The Chief Minister also emphasisedParashurama’s legacy as a “mahaguru” who trained legendary warriors such as Bhishma, Dronacharya, and Karna, reinforcing his stature in Indian cultural and spiritual traditions.
Beyond the religious narrative, Dr Yadav outlined broader development plans tied to the region. He called for the revival of local rivers, particularly the Gambhir and Ajnar, describing rivers as the “arteries of Mother Earth.” He linked these efforts to national river interlinking projects being undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river projects, which aim to boost irrigation, drinking water supply, and power generation.
The proposed ‘Shri Parshuram–Shri Krishna Lok’ will feature a museum showcasing the lives, philosophies, and legends associated with both deities. The complex will include five thematic galleries—covering origin, form, balance, meditation, and weaponry—along with bronze statues, landscaped pathways, viewing points, and a 30-foot grand entrance gate. A dedicated stage for religious discourses and events will also be part of the development. The announcement signals the state government’s intent to position JanapavKuti as a key spiritual hub, blending mythology, infrastructure, and tourism into a unified cultural experience.
