The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Friday sought strict action against those responsible for the alleged theft from donation boxes at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. It also appealed to devotees to remain calm while the investigation is underway.

In a statement, RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale described the alleged theft as a deeply disturbing incident that had hurt the sentiments of Ram devotees across the country. He said the temple had become a symbol of faith and devotion after generations of struggle and sacrifice.

According to the RSS statement, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had requested the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the matter. The state government has since constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and initiated legal proceedings based on its recommendations.

Hosabale said those found guilty during the investigation should face strict punishment. He also stressed the need to remove shortcomings in the temple's administrative and financial systems to ensure such incidents do not recur.

The RSS said the temple management should strengthen financial oversight and operational systems while maintaining complete transparency. It expressed confidence that the Trust would continue to uphold the faith of millions of devotees through proper management and a spiritually disciplined environment.

The RSS said the confusion surrounding the incident should end quickly. It expressed confidence that the temple trust and the Special Investigation Team would take the necessary steps to restore the confidence of devotees.

The RSS also appealed to devotees to exercise patience and restraint while the investigation is underway. It urged society not to allow what it described as anti-Hindu and anti-national elements to exploit the incident to malign the temple or Hindu society.
