RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat concluded his Gujarat tour by attending the 200th anniversary of Jetalpur Swaminarayan Temple, focusing on spirituality, social harmony, and national vision.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, concluded his two-day Gujarat visit (4-5 March'2026) on Thursday with participation in the bicentennial celebrations marking 200 years of the historic Jetalpur Swaminarayan Temple. The Swayamsevak attended the grand Patotsav ceremony and delivered a message highlighting spirituality, social harmony and national responsibility. Bhagwat took part in religious rituals at the temple and performed worship according to scriptural traditions before engaging in a spiritual dialogue with senior saints of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and members of the religious community. His presence at the historic Patotsav commemorating the temple’s two centuries of spiritual legacy infused fresh enthusiasm among the thousands of devotees who had gathered for the celebrations.
India’s Civilizational Responsibility
Addressing the gathering, Bhagwat said India’s civilizational ethos would eventually guide the world in addressing modern challenges. “In today’s circumstances, the responsibility of showing the path to the entire world will come to India. We cannot avoid this; sooner or later we will have to take it up. The world does not have answers to many of its problems, and we will have to provide them,” he said. Emphasizing ideas central to the RSS worldview, Dr Mohan Bhagwat said religion is not merely ritual but conduct, and that spiritual values form the foundation of a strong and harmonious society. According to him, when spirituality is reflected in everyday life, it fosters unity and collective progress. “Religion unites everyone and enables society to move forward together. It elevates individuals and strengthens communities when it becomes part of one’s behaviour and conduct,” he said. Calling for resilience and self-discipline, Dr Mohan Bhagwat urged people to maintain physical and mental strength in the face of challenges. “Situations will come and go, but one must remain healthy and strong to face them. If you are healthy, you will be able to fight against all situations,” he said. Dr Bhagwat also stressed that every individual has unique abilities and a role to play in society. “No one is devoid of qualities. Everyone has strengths. Paths may be different, but they ultimately lead to the same destination,” Dr Bhagwat said, urging people to practice good values with conscious effort and discipline. Referring to Gujarat’s social initiatives, he praised the state’s de-addiction campaigns and service activities, describing them as important examples of social responsibility. He also emphasized the need to maintain social harmony and unity, principles.
Spiritual Outreach During Gujarat Visit
Observers noted that Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat’s presence at the bicentennial celebrations carried significance beyond the religious sphere. The visit is being viewed as an effort to strengthen engagement between the vast following of the Swaminarayan sect and the RSS, particularly in influential spiritual centers such as the Vadtal Swaminarayan Temple and Jetalpur. His participation symbolized a confluence of spiritual tradition and the Sangh’s emphasis on cultural nationalism, highlighting the broader social influence of religious institutions. The Jetalpur programme marked the culmination of Sarsanghchalak two-day visit to Gujarat, which began on Wednesday with a spiritually significant stop at the Vadtal Swaminarayan Temple in Kheda district. At Vadtaldham, the RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat offered darshan of Laxminarayan Dev and visited key spiritual sites within the temple complex, including Akshar Bhuvan and Hari Mandap. The bicentennial celebration of the Jetalpur Swaminarayan Temple drew saints, devotees and community leaders from across Gujarat and other parts of the country, marking a significant milestone in the history of the temple and the Swaminarayan faith. Dr Mohan Bhagwat’s visit, combining spiritual outreach with the RSS’s emphasis on cultural unity and social responsibility, concluded with his participation in the Patotsav ceremony, ending a two-day engagement that underscored the organization’s continued interaction with prominent religious institutions in Gujarat.
